Nauvoo

We left Wednesday this week and headed to Nauvoo. This is our third time there since moving here, but Matt and I hadn't yet gone to the temple. It was a great trip. The Nauvoo temple is beautiful and it was wonderful to be there and remember all the sacrifices that the pioneers endured so that they could have temple ordinances before leaving for the west. It made me think that I should appreciate every opportunity that I have to attend

We picked the only two sunny days this week to go.
The girls loved the Family Living Center. Making ropes was their favorite and they didn't mind getting cookies and bread either.

Mariah is old enough now to appreciate the stories and look at all the interesting items. She really liked going to visit all the old sites. Ruth had to hold her bunny (fluffy) with two hands all the time to keep her from damaging anything that said, "please do not touch."
Lindsay was not happy about sleeping at the hotel. She cried and cried until we turned out all the lights and no one moved for ten minutes. Matt tried to get a picture of her crying because he thought it was too cute. Every time he tried, she started smiling at the camera. This is the only picture that she looks upset in.
We went swimming at the hotel.

One of the really great things about going in the off season is that every tour is like your own personal tour. The missionaries were really great about keeping things simple for the girls and letting them ask lots of questions.
Lindsay finally got a nap right before we started the drive home. She was so worn out. She would later wake up and cry until we got home. Mariah started crying as soon as we left. She loved being there and wanted to stay longer. We will be making another trip back her soon!
