When Matt got home last weekend I was determined to say goodbye forever to Lindsay's pacifier. She was waking up several times each night and instead of inserting it into her mouth, she would throw it to the ground and cry until someone came to give it back to her. I felt like I couldn't let her "cry it out" until we took it away.
Mariah had her binky until she was over two. When we finally took it away it was a nightmare. She couldn't figure out how to go to sleep for months (if not years, she is still the hardest one to get to sleep). I told myself I wasn't going to go through that again.
I started to suspect it was time to take the pacifier away when I found Lindsay sneaking sucks on it in her bedroom and running when I wanted to take it away. Since when do eleven month olds have secret addictions?
So the results...
Night One: Alright, I really have to thank Matt for making me stick to it. The first night I felt so bad that I wanted to give it back to her after only five minutes (you would have too if you would have seen her face when I took it from her). But, we persevered and she was asleep in fifteen minutes. She woke up only a few times and cried a little, but no more than she had been.
Night two: Up a few times with less crying.
Every night since: She has slept the whole night not waking up once.
