Party Girl

Ruthie turned three yesterday. She has been so excited for her special day to come all week. She awoke to a "party house." Matt had put up streamers and we ate breakfast on Birthday plates. All she wanted to do on her birthday was eat cake. So, we had pan"cakes" for breakfast and she opened a few presents (thanks everyone!)
She really only wanted cake, so we made cupcakes for dinner. She ate nothing else, but I didn't complain because it was her birthday. The flowers came from Matt and I. Last week my visiting teachers brought me a flower for my birthday, so Ruthie kept saying that her "flower day" was coming soon. When Matt walked in the door with flowers for her last night her face said it all!
Today the real party took place. We invited six little friends over to celebrate. They had a great time and it was way less chaos than I thought it would be. We played a few games and then did dress-ups and danced. It was a huge hit!
It was kind of a butterfly themed party (we played Caterpillar, Caterpillar, Butterfly instead of Duck, Duck, Goose. I love hearing a three year old say Caterpillar!) So for lunch we had PBJ shaped into butterflies and Lunch meat butterflies and cheese, crackers and fruit.

Ruth ate more cupcakes and seemed very happy! It was a successful party for her if nothing else had happened.

What a fun idea! A perfect party for a little girl. The butterfly sandwiches were such a cute idea and the cupcakes looked great with their butterfly toppings!
