Sleeping Party

Matt had a crazy week. He has been leaving everyday at 5 am and coming home around 8 pm. Last night was the first time we have seen him for dinner all week. To celebrate, the girl's planned a party in his honor. We decided on a sleeping party because rest is what Dad needed most. To get ready the girls made sleeping hats to wear in bed, colored stars and moons and helped me move their mattresses into the living room to make a giant bed (they were in charge of gathering all the pillows in the house).
When Ruth heard we were going to have a "party" she demanded cake. I told her we didn't have any. She cried for 15 minutes. Finally, since we had already decided on having breakfast for dinner, I informed her we would be eating a German Pan"cake" and she was happy (but only when I said we could put candles in it). We got in Pajamas and waited for Matt to come home.
He was a little shocked to be escorted to his bedroom and told to put on his PJ's and report to the living room. He and the girls rested with goodnight music and tired eye compresses (I think they all look so charming, in an alien kind of way). After dinner (of German pan"cake" and singing happy sleep to you) we watched a movie and then had a pillow fight. It was a great Friday night activity and we all had a great time. To finish off the evening we let the girl's have their first sleep out in the living room. It took them awhile to fall asleep (a lot of giggling), but the slept all through the night.

Ok, you just made me laugh. That is SO great. I'm sure Matt was so surprised. Girl homes are so different than boy homes aren't they?
